Patient Billing Statement Rules
Running a medical office is time consuming and costly. Using automated tools helps a office save both time and money. One of those automated options is integrated patient billing statements within your Practice Management software system.
On top of using a Practice Management Software system that is tightly integrated with a Electronic Claims and Statement Clearinghouse we also have the option of setting up Rules for patient statements. This would including identifying the number of patient statements along with a number of Collection Letters you want mailed to each patient and then identifying whether you want to write off the uncollected balance or send to an outside collection agency.

In our Practice Management system statements are associated to Responsible Parties.
Responsible Parties could be tied to multiple patients; think of it like a Mother with 3 children. The Responsible Party (mom) would receive 1 statement which would include all patient balances.

In this example we setup a Rule to receive 3 statements, 2 collection letters, 1 Final Notice and then any remaining balances to be sent to our outside collection agency.
In reality some offices will choose variables on how they want to send patient statements. In those situations we have Patient Billing Statement Rules to allow them to default the system based on their internal policies.
